When generator sets are directly mounted on the steel construction of an oilrig the effect of vibration and resonance can be very annoying. The solution is to mount the generator on an air spring system so that the vibrations can not be transferred to the steel structure of the oilrig.
Based upon an engineered solution by Loggers the comfort on oilrigs is extremely improved and vibrations were reduced. A special designed control system makes sure that the air spring system keeps it pressure and constant height.
All connections to the generator like cooling, lubrication, fuel and exhaust connections are also made flexible in order to follow the movements of the flexible system and also to absorb the vibrations in the connected pipe systems.
